14th Mar 2009March Kindderminster Show
First show of 2009 and a wander over to Wyre Forest Club's event in Kidderminster. This was also the first show to see two T9s running - the second is a new hornby example which features in the photos. Unfortunately for the bank balance Southern Pride, Comet and 247 were there as traders...
20th Sep 2008Chatellerault ,France 2008
Treneglos was invited to attend Chatellerault exhibition on the weekend of 20/21 September, 2008. Those thinking that this sounds a bit foreign are correct.... WE WENT TO FRANCE!

At long last we've finally got round to uploading some photos of the 6 day trip. This involved travelling to Portsmouth (via the Watercress Line), overnight ferry to Le Havre, travelling down to Chatellerault, two days of exhibiting and the return trip....
12th Sep 2008North Cornwall Railway book launch
The builders of Treneglos are proud to announce that we've worked with Irwell Press on the new version of the David Wroe classic: The North Cornwall Railway.

The original book was like a bible to us and therefore we're very pleased to be involved with other volunteers to bring in more information and to increase the book from 156 to nearly 400 pages.

The book is due out in mid September (see http://www.irwellpress.co.uk/BOOKS/SOUTHERN/SR18.HTM for details) and will be priced £29.95.
11th Jul 2008Where is Treneglos?
A few graphics showing where, if the station had been built on the North Cornwall line, it would have been located.
12th Apr 2008Crawley Exhibition
Crawley MRS cellebrated its 50th anniversary this year and Treneglos was one of the 20 layouts that appeared at their 'very special show'.

It was our 19th exhibition appearance and our first show with working (outer) signals, including a co-acting double-armed lattice (well done Fred)! Hazaar!! As such the collection includes loads of photos of signals with their arms up and down. (oh and Horsham station and Worthing Pier....)

15th Mar 2008March Working Session
Treneglos is too big to put up in any of our homes. It therefore only sees the light of day at exhibitions and a critical eye showed that 20 shows had taken their toll on the layout.

So we booked a village hall, all got togther and had a productive day doing some tarting.... and a pint and a bite at the local! Just don't mention fencing to John!
4th Feb 2008New Permanent Way train
Some photos of our new PW train which includes Cambrain Mermaids, a Walrus, a Shark and some repainted Heljan Dogfish.

To follow (once the transfers arrive) will be some Chivers Ling, Tunny and Lamprey ballast wagons...oh, and some Parkside Grampus for good measure!
2nd Feb 2008
to 3rd Feb 2008
Stafford Exhibition
The show was possibly the Stafford club's best ever with a great collections of interesting layouts, including the superb Penhallick - winner of the best visiting layout cup. The widely forecast snow never thankfully materialised (apart from hail on the Friday) and this led to a good attendance.

Our first show after the Railway Modeller article was published. From the large number of very complementary comments we recived this appears to have gone down very well.
16th Jan 2008Railway Modeller February 2008
Fame at last, or as some Welsh bloke said "Treneglos goes glossy!" Yes Treneglos is the Railway of the Month in the February edition.

Now that the Railway Modeller article is a few months old i've added some slightly higher resolution images from the magazine. Also, in full glorious technicolour, I've added some of the original images taken by Steve Flint back in 2004 (courtesy of the Railway Modeller).
9th Jan 2008Books, books, books...
Some of the many reference books we've used in the building of Treneglos and its stock. All come highly recommended.

If you know of any other books about the North Cornwall then let us know via the "Leave a Message" box (bottom right of the opening page).

Thanks to Peter Richards for adding a few extra.....
2nd Jan 2008Preston Exhibition
Preston, our first exhibition in 2008 marked a good start to the year with Treneglos winning the 'Best Layout' competition. It also saw the first running of the superb new Hornby Maunsell coaches. We put together 2-Set Ps (25 and 27), a 3-Set M and a loose Corridor 3rd. As yet only the underframes and ends are weathered.
15th Nov 2007New Hornby Maunsell Coaches
The new Hornby coaches whilst very detailed and a superb model can be a bit of a pig to get into. So here are some photos to show you what you're up against.

STOP PRESS: In the post FK and CK releases Hornby no longer use glue / sticky tape to attach the interior to the coach floor. This makes dismantling easier.
11th Nov 2007Setting up at Exhibitions
Ever wondered how Treneglos gets to the exhibitions and set up? The sellection of photos in this collection will show you how....
13th Oct 2007Rail Ex South West (Taunton)
Taunton was enjoyable for many reasons:
1. We had a nice relaxing trip down, taking time out for a sumptuous lunch and a visit to the West Somerset Railway
2. The first batch of Hornby's new Maunsell coaches had hit the retailers, forcing an unexpected purchase.
3. Oh, and we won best layout.

The last item was a big surprise as we were in the same hall as the superb Charlotte Road and Taunton club's own amazing Bath Green Park.

Not too many photos from this exhibition as the camera was left at home. Thanks to Club members Ron and Terry, and RMweb contributors 'Captain Kernow' and '10800' for the photos.

11th Aug 2007Treneglos Locos
Close-ups of some of the locos that can be seen running on Treneglos. Most of the locos are modified and detailed Ready-To-Run examples from the likes of Hornby and Bachmann. An increasing number are kit built to cover the prototypes not available RTR.
11th Aug 2007The real North Cornwall Line
Photos taken along the real railway at various locations between Okehampton and Padstow

(Map thanks to Peter Richards)
10th Jun 2007Chatham Docks Exhibition
A long trip down to the South East for Treneglos. Horid traffic on the M25 due to an accident but at least we'd had a good pub lunch....

Highlight of the weekend were our provisional invitations across the water to Begium and Holland for 2008!

Some of the photos in this collection were kindly supplied by Steve McNally. His superb fotopic site can be found at: http://steve-mcnally.fotopic.net
28th Apr 2007Sutton Coldfield Exhibition
Our second exhibition of 2007 and..... we were awarded the 'Best Layout in Show' trophy, superb result!

The layout spent the weekend in a school gym with a south facing wall of glass. On one of the rare hot weekends of 2007 it got a bit warm operating....
17th Mar 2007Nottingham Exhibition
Nottingham - a local show by current standards which always helps cut down the travelling.... unless you decide to commute from Louth! There were a couple of high points namely:

1. The layout came second place in the judging for the Millholme Trophy (awarded for the most authentic layout).
2. Our Drummond T9 built by Geoff Cook from a brass kit was highly Commended in the judging for the John Cockcroft Plate (awarded for the best kit-built or modified ready-to-run item of rolling stock or locomotive).
3. Hornby Magazine (Issue 2 - June / July 2007) judged the layout to be one of the show highlights and 'simply superb'.
21st Oct 2006Uckfield Exhibition
A trip down to Uckfield show was the perfect excuse to.... visit the Bluebell Railway. So we did.

Apart from the steam at the Bluebell, the show will be remembered for the warm welcome from the Uckfield club, the evening social and its super-tough quiz in which we were heavily beaten.

Welcome
Welcome to the Treneglos Fotopic Site
Here you can find photos of our 00 Gauge exhibition layout (model railway). It's set in the early 1960's on the now closed North Cornwall line that ran from Okehampton to Padstow.

We run a variety of BR (Southern) stock - all prototypical for the location and time. Our stock is mostly ready to run from Hornby and Bachmann, but with an ever increasing proportion built from kits.

We can be seen 'in the flesh' at exhibitions up and down the country, our next few are:

Wadebridge: 14 15 November 2009
3 Spires Truro: August 2010
Spalding: 2011
